(2006-01-11) CottonDB migration is underway. Please visit http://cottondb.org for new additions and most recent information.
This site is not updated anymore. It is left here for reference. All information
is accessable at the new CottonDB site.
Welcome to the CottonDB Data Collection Site
Located at the USDA ARS Southern Plains Agricultural Research Center (SPARC), College Station, TX
CottonDB was constructed under a project sponsored by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Agricultural Research Service (ARS) and released to the National Agricultural Library (NAL) Agricultural Genome Information Server (AGIS) as a resource on the developing knowledge base of Cotton Genetics.
The database was developed and initally maintained by Gerard R. Lazo (Research Geneticist, Curator) and Sridhar Madhavan(Graduate Research Assistant, curator(Jan'95- Nov'96)).
We welcome you here to this site to contribute information that may be readily incorporated into the CottonDB database. Forms may be filled out below to contribute information in the areas of Colleagues, Research, Metabolism, Literature, and Comments).
WWW browsers should have FORMS support to enter information, otherwise information may be mailed to fred@kapas.tamu.edu. Pages were formatted using Netscape 2.0, but should be readable with other WWW browsers.
You may want to browse CottonDB to inspect current information available and its organization. If you have comments, feel changes should be made, or if you have new information that would be valuable to the database, we encourage you to fill out one of the Information Forms mentioned below. To determine if information about a subject exists in CottonDB, you may search the database through CottonDB at the Cornell WWW site. Please include your name with the submitted research-associated forms so that your contribution may be properly recognized.
Colleague: If you are involved in cotton research, we would like to include you in the database.
Research: Please select this form to contribute information on cotton genetics, interactions, and other observations.
Metabolism: Please select this form to contribute information on cotton biochemistry, metabolic pathways, and molecular biology.
Literature: Please update us with the latest research papers related to and about cotton.
Comments: Any suggestions or comments about CottonDB or the supplied forms would be appreciated.
Presently, CottonDB is based on ACEDB version 4.9 (Richard Durbin and Jean Thierry-Mieg, MRC LMB Cambridge, England and CNRS, Montpellier, France, respectively) with modifications to model files derived from other plant genome databases presented at Agricultural Genome Information Server (AGIS).
See the CottonDB Updates Page for the latest updates to CottonDB.
