Dear ICGI members,

This is to update you of the upcoming ICGI workshop, announced late last month, in conjunction with the World Cotton Research Conference-4 in Lubbock, Texas. As you may notice on the posted agenda Pre-WCRC-4 Discussion Session, the local hosts have decided to move the venue from the USDA-ARS Cropping Systems Research Laboratory to the Experimental Sciences Building on Texas Tech University campus. The session will be promptly from 3:00-5:30 PM (15:00-17:30 CDT) on Sunday, September 9, 2007. Transportation will be provided from your conference hotel (NOT the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center as indicated in the previous email) to the Texas Tech University campus if you can be in your hotel lobby by 2:30 PM.

Please reply to this email by August 31, 2007 if you plan to attend this discussion session and indicate whether you will need transportation from your hotel. We will provide you with a map direction to the Experimental Sciences Building if you need to get there by yourself. We thank those who have already responded and we request all prospective attendees to reply because the local hosts need to have an accurate head-count for refreshment chartering and other logistics arrangements. The list of prospective participants will be also forwarded for the assignment to breakout groups.

You probably have received this information via Roy Cantrell's email. However to be sure that all the membership is informed, we have posted the announcement of the Bayer-PAG forum to discuss the sequencing document and the white paper document at http://algodon.tamu.edu/sequencing.

As a way of background the document follows from the Special Topics discussion on sequencing ( http://icgi.tamu.edu/meeting/2006) held at the Research Conference in Brazil. Jeff Chen and his group have prepared this document for publication in a refereed journal. They are soliciting input from the cotton community, and it will be the topic of the Bayer-PAG forum. The role of ICGI with this effort will be discussed at the Business Meeting, and any subsequent action will involve input from the membership of ICGI.
