Welcome to the SorghumDb Data Collection Site

Located at the USDA ARS Southern Plains Agricultural Research Center (SPARC), College Station, TX

SorghumDB is under development by USDA-ARS in cooperation with Texas A&M University at College Station, Texas. Keith Schertz (USDA-ARS, Southern Crops Research Laboratory, Crop Germplasm Research Unit) and Najeeb Siddiqi (original Curator), initiated the database effort and Leland Ellis at the Keck Center for Genome Informatics in Houston has provided guidance and advice. We welcome you here to this site to contribute information that may be readily incorporated into the SorghumDB database. Forms may be filled out below to contribute information in the areas of Colleagues, Research, Metabolism, Literature, and Comments). WWW browsers should have FORMS support to enter information, otherwise information may be mailed to raj@algodon.REMOVETHIStamu.edu(remove the REMOVETHIS string from the email). Pages were formatted using Netscape 2.0, but should be readable with other WWW browsers.

You may want to browse SorghumDB to inspect current information available and its organization. If you have comments, feel changes should be made, or if you have new information that would be valuable to the database, we encourage you to fill out one of the Information Forms mentioned below. To determine if information about a subject exists in SorghumDB, you may search the database through WAIS at the NAL AGIS WWW site. Please include your name with the submitted research-associated forms so that your contribution may be properly recognized.

* Colleague: If you are involved in sorghum research, we would like to include you in the database.

* Research: Please select this form to contribute information on sorghum genetics, interactions, and other observations.

* Metabolism: Please select this form to contribute information on sorghum biochemistry, metabolic pathways, and molecular biology.

* Literature: Please update us with the latest research papers related to and about sorghum.

* Comments: Any suggestions or comments about SorghumDB or the supplied forms would be appreciated.

Presently, SorghumDB is based on ACEDB version 4.3 (Richard Durbin and Jean Thierry-Mieg, MRC LMB Cambridge, England and CNRS, Montpellier, France, respectively) with modifications to model files derived from other plant genome databases presented at Agricultural Genome Information Server (AGIS).

A SorghumDB Preview may be viewed to get an idea of what to expect while running SorghumDB in its native ACEDB 4.1 form. This was for SorghumDB ver. 96.1.
We have now upgraded SorghumDB to ACEDB version 4.3. This new version is called SorghumDB 96.1. In this current version of SorghumDB (96.1), we have integrated more data and new classes and tags. To make distinctions between the same kind of data received from different labs and experiments, we have instituted changes in the current and in future versions of SorghumDB. At present, SorghumDB ver. 96.1 (March 1999) contains:
